Every Friday, I want to start a "Simplify" rule. Fridays will be the days that I go through an area of my home and weed out any items that I dont truly NEED or LOVE. I am going to be brutal with myself on this because I truly do want to simplify, and learn to focus on the quality of items in my home, rather than the quantity.
I will Freecycle them.
I will Cheacycle them.
I will donate them to charities.
I will throw them away.
I will give them to friends and family.
I will simplify.
Care to join me?
I've been doing this myself, I have to be quick and reasonable. I also noticed for me if I feel like I'm done and take a break, then really go back I feel better. It keeps me honest with myself. I wish you luck, and I must toss in for the first time I've tried to "declutter" I don't feel guilty. I hope you can find away that gives you the same feeling.

This is an awesome idea. I've been doing it willy nilly, but if I focus on one room, one day a week I'll get loads done!
Plus I need a day for Ebay too...

Hi - I'm a new reader, enjoying the blog very much. My way to deal with escalating quantities of stuff is a balancing act. If I get something new, I discard (recycle or donate, sometimes throw out) the equivalent volume of things. The volume has to match, not the item type. New kitchen gear can replace busted garden tools. New fabric can replace a stack of paperback books.
