We have reason to celebrate, my dear friends! Over at our lovely group, Reclaiming The Home on Ravelry, we have gained over 1000 members! That is an enormous milestone for me, and for all of our members, and is most certainly worthy of celebration!
I am also celebrating my new baby, my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, in the color Inferno (here's hoping the cool color name takes away some of the soccer mom stigma, haha!).
To celebrate our 1000 member milestone and my new Grand Caravan, I am hosting a Grand Giveaway!
For this giveaway, I will be stuffing a Priority Mail Flat-Rate box full to the brim with various goodies, fabrics, trims, yarns, and more for the winner!! I will even include a handmade item that I am putting together just for this giveaway!
To enter the contest, reply with a comment to this post with a suggestion on what to name my new Grand Caravan! I am currently leaning toward Sally, but I think that is mostly from lack of imagination in my cold-medicine-induced-state. Therefore, the burden of naming her lands on you (yes, it is a her! she is so pretty)!
The contest will end Friday night on March 7th at midnight CST. At that point I will draw a name, and the winner will receive the box of goodies. Have fun gals!
I love contests and this one extra special. 1000 members. Way to go!!

In honour of the colour name (Inferno) how about Virgil or Beatrice...they guided Dante through purgatory and beyond to heaven. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Divine_Comedy

Oooohhhh! Lovely! Count me in for the contest.
As for the car name, you really have to go with your first impression for it to really stick. I'm still waiting for inspiration for my Aveo.

Looks like a Louise to me. My 1990 Honda Accord is Howard, so maybe I have a penchant toward "classic" names.
Posted by: CaitlinKnits | March 03, 2008 at 04:53 PM
I like different names so I suggest Gisela. But, Sally is great, my aunt Sally always has perfectly manicured nails and toes to match. 1000 is an awesome milestone
Posted by: Debbie | March 03, 2008 at 05:10 PM
I forgot to say that my aunt Sally's favorite color is red. Fingers, toes, and she has an awesome red slipper tub.
Posted by: Debbie | March 03, 2008 at 05:12 PM
I personally like "The Torch" But if you really want a girly name maybe pick your favorite classic heroine and use her name?
Posted by: Aviva | March 03, 2008 at 05:27 PM
I'm the sort of person who likes odd names for cars. So, if it were me, it would end up named Lava or something. Now, you like real names, so a red anything would have to be Rooooooxxxanne. Yes, I know what the song's about. But see, the kids don't have to know. Haha. I'll shut up now.

Red Dwarf, but then that would only appeal to those of us that love dorky sci-fi from the BBC. It is your space shuttle to and from all events.

Congrats on the 1000 member milestone! Well, since you're in Oklahoma and wanting a female name...I think of *Reba* ... as in Reba McEntire of country music fame with beautiful red hair!
I hope you get well soon!
Posted by: Shelly | March 03, 2008 at 05:57 PM
How about Krakatoa... for the hot lava color? Congratulations on the new ride... it's great to be part of the 1000!

If you are after a girls name, she looks like a Scarlet to me- feisty and strong! Maybe a Ruby....Congratulations on the 1000 members!
Posted by: mariannealice | March 03, 2008 at 06:08 PM
Sassy comes to mind as it's a litle bit rebellious so you don't quite have that soccer mom stigma.
Posted by: Kimberly | March 03, 2008 at 06:31 PM
Oh, I was going to suggest Scarlet, but Mariannealice beat me to it. My second choice would be Nellie.
Posted by: Autum | March 03, 2008 at 06:34 PM
Bertha. :)
Posted by: susie | March 03, 2008 at 06:36 PM
She looks like a Lola to me!

Congratulations on 1000 members! That's fantastic! How about the name Randal, as an off take of grand?
Posted by: Emiliy | March 03, 2008 at 07:04 PM
Oh! Fun give-away! Thanks for the head's up :)
The van looks like a Cherise (french for "cherry") to me. Have fun and enjoy that pretty new van!

YAY!! 1000!!!!
Today 1000, tomorrow the world!!
I'd go with Sassy Sally.

Can I be the odd one out and vote for no name? Every-single-time my mom named one of her cars (Back when I was a kid), they were very "tempermental" vehicles. If a name is required, I vote for either "Van" or "Crazy Bus" for those outings/days where the kids are bouncing off the walls & you have to take them out!
Posted by: greenapples | March 03, 2008 at 07:53 PM
I'd say Casey.
Posted by: Mary | March 03, 2008 at 08:26 PM
I would go with Stella. Snaz it up! Congrats!
Posted by: Sunny | March 03, 2008 at 08:46 PM
What about Candie, and when it was being bad you could pull out the whole full name deal, Candace!!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and leaving the comment. It's so hard to sort through our stuff and determine what's extra sometimes. Your words were that perfect push when I needed them.
Posted by: hunnybunny | March 03, 2008 at 09:03 PM
I would name the car Scarlett! Because it is :)
Posted by: Dove | March 03, 2008 at 09:09 PM
How about Charlotte?
Posted by: Lynn | March 03, 2008 at 09:16 PM
I like O'hara. The Scarlet part could be understod.
Posted by: judy | March 03, 2008 at 09:23 PM
Okay. Here we go. In no particular order and taking in the cars over-all personality:
Blaze
Big Red
Dame Dodgette
Bess the Beast!

1000! Holy smokes! Hmmm...car name...my cars have always been male (Lance, Pimpmobile, Timmy and now Bruce). Took awhile for Bruce to come to me. Girl...red...I have to go with my mom's name 'cause her favourite colour is red...so Patti or Patricia if you're feeling regal.
Posted by: Sarah | March 03, 2008 at 09:37 PM
Congratulations, and thank you for such a wonderful giveaway! I think an old fashioned name is in order for the van: I'd go for "Olive," "Rose," "Sophia," "Lucille" or something of that ilk.
Don't worry about the soccer mom stigma - I have a mini van and I don't even have kids (it's great for hauling around my giant greyhound). Vans are so useful!

Thanks for the contest, I was going to say Scarlett or Ruby but those have been given already. How about Dorothy? As in Wizard of Oz Dorothy? Enjoy her!
Posted by: Missy | March 03, 2008 at 10:51 PM
I vote for Vixen. :D
Posted by: Tammy | March 03, 2008 at 11:19 PM
maybe ruby or ginger? both fitting for a red car i think :)
Posted by: Toni | March 03, 2008 at 11:31 PM
A first glance I thought you were giving away a car, but I honestly I think a crafty treasure box would make me much more excited :) I modestly suggest that you call the car Kajsa after me, haha. It is a Swedish name pronounced Kysa.
Posted by: Kajsa | March 04, 2008 at 01:10 AM
Delurking to suggest "Sanguine".
It is the name of a reddish drawing chalk:

And I love the "Orange Sanguine"

I think either Ruby or Dorothy would be great names for your new car. It IS gorgeous!

Frances (of Rome) the Patron Saint of Safe Driving and Drivers ... mother of 3.
"Frances certainly never drove, but legend says that when she went abroad at night, her guardian angel went before her lighting the road with a headlight-like lantern, keeping her safe in her travels."

I would vote for Liberty (because my new car spelled "freedom" to me...)
Congrats on your new purchase!
Posted by: Anneh | March 04, 2008 at 06:37 AM
I'd go with Betty, she looks like a Betty.
Congrats on hitting 1000!

Congratulations on your 1000! What a beauty of a car ... Isabella maybe ... or Ginger like Toni suggested.
Either way ... hot stuff! :)

I wish I had a car like that!
And I would call her Pippi :)
You know Pippi Longstocking? She has red hair ;)
