I have been busy sewing and sewing and sewing. I am working on a summer wardrobe for the girls, and have been spending as much time as I can trying to get that ready now that the weather is warming up. I tried and tried to get a few pictures of them yesterday as they were running about the yard, but it is hard to catch a fleeing two year old in motion. Hopefully this will give you some idea of what I have had in the works for Anna.
The color appears to be a bit off in this picture, but you can at least see the outfit. The tank top and bloomers were made from one vintage pillowcase that I picked up at an estate sale for 65-cents. I have spools and spools and spools of elastic that will last me the duration of my natural life, so I don't count that in the cost of the outfit. The ribbon I bought with about 100 yards on a spool at the thrift store for about $1. Total cost was under 75-cents. I really get such a little thrill from being frugal and making something new out of something old.
Are you sewing anything for the warm summer months?
I have a tutorial for the bloomers in the works, that I'll be sure to post later in the week. :)
Precious!!

My summer sewing is going to be clothes for me. I need some new pieces and I hate shopping for RTW, it never fits right, or is just wrong.
So this will be the summer of skirts (S.o.S? I see a sew-along hehe).

I am so jealous of how incredibly creative and frugal you are. I really wish that I had that kind of talent. Unfortunately for me things don't tend to keep my attention for very long.

My youngest just picked a pillowcase in hopes of getting a dress, that's so funny. I think we're on the same page. Make sure you post it all, it's going to be beautiful.

Cute little outfit and congrats on being so frugal. I'm working on a short sleeve buttondown shirt at the moment. I also have another shirt and a skirt in the works. All for myself, too. At some point I have a kimono to make too.

This is really cute! I can never find good pillowcases at thrift shops or garage sales. They are always really rough material, or they are stained or have holes. Have you seen this tutorial? http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=170402.0 I made one and it was really easy. I salvaged the pocket from the front of the shirt and used it on the front of the dress. Total cost was 25 cents for the shirt at a garage sale, plus a little elastic and thread.
I am working on something made from dishtowels I got at BigLots yesterday. We will see how that goes....
