Oh my what a week!! We have been busy repainting the kitchen, packing up the house, and trying to get everything ready for the move coming up soon. It all seems never ending and yet its coming up so incredibly fast. These are good changes in the works, and things seem to be working together as they need to, so we are feeling incredibly thankful for the way life is unfolding around here.
My to-do list is nothing short of a mile long, but right now I am captivated by the view just out my back door as I sit and type, watching my youngest run through the grass and play with our dog in the yard, singing "I did it! I did it! I did it!" If you asked her, she would be happy to tell you in Anna-ese that she is like Dora, and our dog Jack, is like Boots, exploring past the tall tree, across the grassy lawn, over to the red wagon. I think she even threw in an adventure with "wocks" where she jumps over a little pile of pebbles she has collected. Right now she is "fisheen" for flowers with a found piece of string. She never ceases to amaze me with her inventiveness.
She has been quite the character lately. She is convinced that she is about 25 years old (when she isn't convinced she is Dora) and wants nothing more than to be like Mommy and Daddy.
I am learning to take a page out of her book, by letting creativity be what it is, without having to put boundaries on what is "perfect" and what "isn't". Oh the things our children can teach us.
Above is one of Abbi's most recent school projects - we had to put together a collage of things that define her, and try to describe her using pictures and very few words. It was really a fun exercise! School has its ups and downs, but we are trying to focus on the positives and all that it is giving her. We are so proud of her, and all the progress she is making!!
I still can't believe she's 7!!! That is so crazy, in such an amazingly beautiful way. You can see here that I made her a "smores" cake with chocolate chips and marshmallows on top of her cake (and even fire though there was no roasting involved LOL). There are even M&M's hidden down in the cake itself that were a nice surprise
I have been busy working on my handspun as well a bit. This colorway is called "Sock Monkey" because the colors remind me so much of that! It is made up of a beautiful fabric that i cut into strips and then plied that together with some recycled angora that I had dyed red. I love this yarn, and there is about 4oz of it!
This pink and white skein is about 1.5 oz of different recycled angora sweaters. It is lusciously soft!
This skein is another completely luscious yarn that I am calling "bakers twine," because even though it is as soft as butter, it reminds me so much of the twine used to wrap up little packages from the bakery. There are over 4.5 oz in this skein of 3-ply angora.
On another note, I received an awesome award from Linda over at the Merry Church Mouse! She has a beautiful blog, so if you get a chance to, do go check it out!
I am supposed to tag 7 people to receive this award, but it is far too difficult to pick, so if you have recently signed up (or re-signed up) for Wardrobe Refashion, like I have, then consider yourself tagged!
Besides you're gorgeous pics, I"m also so totally digging that yarn! The pink looks so soft and fluffy and the red would look AWESOME tied around brown packages like you said. Makes me think of a simple, beautiful, elegant Christmas

Glad to hear everything is moving along well for you. The yarn is beautiful. It's making me wish I knew how to knit. I think one day I will learn, but for now I have way to many projects on the do-list as it is!

Your resourcefulness never ceases to amaze me. I would never dream of taking fabric and spinning yarn out of it. It is LOVELY and so very creative. Have you ever thought of selling it? I think there are definitely be interest in it.
